KCET 2020 - Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) will conduct KCET 2020 on April 22 and 23 for B.Tech admissions into the participating institutes of the state. The authorities will be releasing the application form of KCET 2020 tentatively in the first week of February. Candidates will be able to apply for KCET 2020 tentatively till the third week of March. KCET 2020 will be held as a pen and paper based test and will consist of two papers – Paper I (Mathematics) and Paper II (Physics & Chemistry). The admit card of KCET 2020 will be released for the registered candidates. Allotment of seats will be done on the basis of scores and ranks secured in KCET 2020. Two rounds of allotment will be conducted along with an additional extended round. Along with KCET ranks, preferences and availability of seats will also be considered for allotment. The eligibility criteria of KCET 2020 will consist of the conditions and requirements that the candidates have to fulfil to participate in the admission procedure. The candidates will have to meet criteria specified by the authorities such as age, qualifying examination, marks required and more. If the candidates are unable to meet the criteria, then they will be rejected from the allotment process.
Candidates should be Indian
Should have studied for minimum 7 years and passed from a recognized institute in Karnataka (1st standard to 2nd PUC/12th standard) as on first week of July 2020
Candidates should have passed 12th standard examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory examination and any of the following - Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/Electronics/Computer.
Should have also studied English.
Minimum 45% aggregate marks should have been secured in three subjects in 12th standard qualifying examination. For SC/ST/OBC candidates, the minimum aggregate marks is 40%.
KEA will be releasing the application form of KCET 2020 tentatively in the first week of February. Candidates will be able to fill the application form in online mode. The final date to submit the application form will be tentatively in the third week of March. Valid information has to be submitted in the application form otherwise it will be rejected by the authorities. Without submitting the application form, the candidates will not be allowed to participate in the admission process.
Step 1 – Registration: In the first step, the candidates will have to register by selecting their nationality and school board. Candidates will also have to submit their 13 digit “Student Number” PUE Department. Personal and contact details will have to be submitted by the candidates. The application number and password will be sent to the candidates after registration.
Step 2 – Filling of Application Form: The required information has to be submitted by the candidates. All of the details to be submitted have to be valid in nature.
Step 3 – Uploading of Scanned Images: Next, the candidates will have to upload the scanned images of their photograph, signature and left thumb impression. The images to be uploaded have to be as per the specifications mentioned by the authorities. Candidates will also have to upload their parent’s left thumb impression.
Step 4 – Application Fee Payment: The required application fee has to be paid by the candidates using online (net banking/credit card/debit card) or offline mode (e-challan).
Step 5 – Print Out of Application Form: After reviewing the filled application form, the candidates will have to submit it and print it out. Candidates will have to get the print out attested by the Principal of 12th standard of the institute/school/college that they are currently studying at or by any Gazetted Officer.

The exam centres of KCET 2020 will consist of the venues where the entrance examination will be conducted by the authorities. The preferred exam cities have to be selected by the candidates while filling the application form. Allotment of KCET 2020 exam centres will be done as per the preference and availability of seats. Details regarding the allotted exam centre will be present in the admit card. In the previous year, the examination was conducted in around 53 cities.
KEA will release the exam pattern of KCET 2020 in which the details about the examination can be checked by the candidates. Using the exam pattern, the candidates will be able to know particulars regarding the examination such as mode, duration, type of questions, marking scheme and more. Candidates can use the exam pattern to strategize for the upcoming entrance examination since they will be familiar with how the entrance examination will be conducted.

The syllabus of KCET 2020 will be released by the admission authorities in online mode. Information regarding the topics and chapters to be studied for the entrance examination will be present in the syllabus. The units of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics will be included in the syllabus. It should be noted that KCET 2020 syllabus will be similar to the syllabus of first and second Pre-University Course (PUC) as specified by the Department of Pre-University Education of Karnataka State. Candidates can use the syllabus to boost their preparation since they will be aware of what is to be studied beforehand.
During preparation, the candidates can use the sample papers of KCET 2020 to practice for the upcoming entrance examination. The sample papers will be similar to the examination question paper and solving it will make the candidates familiar with the examination pattern. Using the sample papers, the candidates will be able to know the type of questions, weightage distributions, marking scheme and more. Time management can also be practiced by the candidates using the sample papers.
KEA will be releasing the admit card of KCET 2020 tentatively in the second week of April. Only those candidates who register for the entrance examination will be able to access the admit card in online mode. To access the admit card, the candidates will have to log in using the required credentials. Information regarding the time, date, venue address and more of KCET 2020 will be present in the admit card. While reporting to the exam centre, the candidates will have to produce the admit card along with a valid identity proof. Without the admit card, the candidates will not be allowed to attempt KCET 2020.

Through the answer key of KCET 2020, the candidates will be able to check the correct answers to the questions asked in the entrance examination. The provisional answer key will be released first and the candidates will be able to calculate their probable secured scores by comparing their responses to the correct answers. Objections can be raised by the candidates till the allotted date. After the objections are reviewed, the authorities will release the final answer key.
KEA will declare the result of KCET 2020 in online mode tentatively in the fourth week of May. Through the result, the candidates will be able to check their secured scores and ranks in the entrance examination. Using the login credentials, the candidates will be able to check their result.

The cutoff of KCET 2020 will be prepared by the authorities and it will act as a screening process for admissions. The minimum marks to be secured for higher chances of admissions into the participating institutes will be available in the cutoff. Candidates will have to note that the cutoff will be different as per the candidate’s course, college and category.
KCET 2020 counselling will be conducted in online mode for all qualified candidates. In the counselling process, the candidates will first have to verify their documents and then fill their choice of colleges and courses as per their preference. A mock allotment will also be declared on the basis of choices made by the candidates. By checking the mock allotment result, the candidates will be able to change the order of their choices before the final allotment.
KEA will be conducting the procedure of KCET 2020 seat allotment. Qualified candidates will be allotted seats on the basis of rank, preferences, category and availability of seats. Two rounds of seat allotment will be held by the authorities along with an additional extended round. Allotted candidates will have to confirm their admission by paying the required fee and visiting their respective institute for verification of documents.
On the basis of the secured ranks, the candidates will be allotted seats in the participating institutes of KCET 2020. There will be around 220 government colleges/private aided/private un-aided/institutes of Karnataka in KCET 2020 participating institutes.

kcet stands for karnataka common entrance test for engineering, pharmacy and agriculture admission. students who have passed 12th course or appearing in 12th exam are eligible to apply for kcet exam.
