JoSAA Seat Allocation 2019 - Joint Seat Allocation Authority will be conducting the seat allocation of JoSAA 2019 to provide admissions into the participating institutes. JoSAA 2019 seat allocation registrations will commence tentatively from the second week of June. The candidates will have to register and select their preferences tentatively till the third week of June 2019. Before the real JoSAA seat allocation 2019, the authorities will conduct two rounds of mock allocation. The seat allocation of JoSAA 2019 will be conducted in seven rounds. The result of JoSAA 2019 seat allocation round 1 will be announced tentatively in the fourth week of June. Selected candidates will have to undergo document verification and select their preferred admission option. Allocation will be done as per the merit, category, preferences and availability of seat. JEE Main qualified candidates will be able to apply for NITs, IIITs and GFTIs whereas JEE Advanced qualified candidates will be eligible for the previously mentioned institutes and IITs. JoSAA 2019 Seat Allocation - Mock Round

Two rounds of JoSAA 2019 seat allocation will be conducted by the authorities. The mock rounds will be held to let the candidates understand the allocation process and to inform them their allotment as per their merit and selected preferences. Rearrangement of choices will be allowed after the result of mock allocation is announced. To check the mock allotment result, the candidates will have to log into their account. The authorities will release the result of mock JoSAA 2019 seat allocation tentatively in the third week of June. 


JoSAA Seat Allocation 2019

Candidates who meet the required eligibility criteria will be able to participate in the seat allocation of JoSAA 2019. For admissions into NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs, the candidates should have qualified JEE Main 2019. However for admissions into the above mentioned institutes and IITs, the candidates should have passed JEE Advanced 2019. Seven rounds of JoSAA 2019 seat allocation will be conducted by the authorities. Allotment of seats will be done as per the merit of the candidates, category, selected preferences and availability of seats. Those candidates who get allotted will have to download their provisional allotment letter. During JoSAA seat allocation 2019, the candidates will be segregated into different categories as given below:

  • GEN

  • GEN PwD

  • OBC-NCL

  • OBC-NCL PwD

  • SC

  • SC PwD

  • ST

  • ST PwD

  • Foreign


Candidates will also be assigned the state of eligibility which is the state from where they have completed their 12th standard (or equivalent) qualifying examination.

How to Download JoSAA 2019 Seat Allocation Letter

The candidates selected during JoSAA seat allocation 2019 will be able to download their allocation letter. The candidates can follow the given steps to download the seat allocation letter of JoSAA 2019. 

  • The candidates will have to provide their JEE Main roll number and password.

  • Click on Submit.

  • After successfully logging into the account, the candidates will be able to access the seat allocation letter. 

  • The candidates will have to download and print out the seat allocation letter. 


JoSAA 2019 Seat Allocation Acceptance Fee Payment

The selected candidates will be required to pay the seat acceptance fee. If the fee is not paid within the allotted time, the candidates may get disqualified. The candidates will have to make the payment through e-challan or SBI net-banking.

Verification of Documents

The candidates will have to verify their documents at the nearest reporting centres. Original documents along with a set of photocopies has to be submitted for verification. The candidates will also have to select their preferred admission option for the allocated seat through JoSAA 2019:

  • Freezing: This option has to be selected if the candidate is satisfied with his/her allotted seat. This will confirm that the candidates will not participate in the further round of seat allocation.

  • Floating: If the allocated candidate wants to accept the seat but is also open for admissions into higher choices in the other institutes during the future rounds of seat allocation, then they will have to select this option. 

  • Sliding: This option has to be selected if the candidates accept their allotted seat but are also open for admission into a higher preferred course in the same institute.


Floating and sliding options will only be open for those candidates who are not allotted their first preference.

JoSAA 2019 Seat Allocation - Withdrawal of Seats

Withdrawal of seats will be open for all selected candidates before the final round of JoSAA seat allocation 2019. To withdraw the seats, the candidates will have to report to their nearest reporting centres. After withdrawing their seats, the candidates will not be able to eligible for any more rounds of allotment. Those candidates who withdraw their seats will be refunded the seat acceptance fee after deducting Rs. 1000 as processing charge. Withdrawal of seats will not be allowed after the final round is conducted. To exercise the withdrawal option, the candidates can follow the given steps:

  • Candidates will be required to fill their bank account details to which the seat acceptance fee will be refunded in the JoSAA portal. An image of the cancelled cheque of the same account in JPG format also has to be uploaded. The withdrawal request letter has to be downloaded, printed and signed by both the candidate and his/her parent.

  • Next, the candidates will have to go to the reporting centre with the withdrawal request. If the candidates does not report at the centre, then the withdrawal will not be processed.


Dual Reporting for Document Verification

  • If the candidates opt for float option and are allotted in an IIT in one round and in an NIT/IIIT/GFTI in a subsequent round, then they will have to report once again for document verification at a reporting centre of NITs.

  • Similarly, if the candidates are alloted a seat in NIT/IIIT/GFTI in one round and in an IIT in a subsequent round, then they will have to report again for document verification at a reporting centre of IITs.

  • If the candidates fail to do so, then both of their allocated seats will be cancelled. These candidates will also not be allowed to participate in any further rounds of JoSAA 2019 seat allocation.


Reporting at Allocated Institute

Finally, the selected candidates will have to report to their allotted institute. The balance fee has to be paid by the candidates for confirmation of admission.
