JEE Main January 2020 - NTA has released the result of JEE Main January 2020 Paper 2 on January 23 along with the final answer key. The result of Paper 2 is also expected to be available soon. The authorities successfully conducted the January session of JEE Main 2020 in online mode from January 6 to 9. Earlier the authorities had released the admit card of JEE Main January 2020 on December 6, 2019. Candidates were able to access the admit card by using the required credentials to login. The application form for JEE Main January 2020 for the rest of the students concluded on October 10, 2019. Candidates who attempted the exam from J&K centres were able to apply till November 8, 2019. National Testing Agency has announced new changes in the exam pattern of JEE Main 2020 January session which was held from January 6 to 9. JEE Main January 2020 was conducted as a computer-based test across 233 exam cities in India and 9 in abroad. Students are advised to first read all the information regarding eligibility criteria and ensure they fulfil all the conditions. The complete procedure for filling JEE Main January 2020 application form was online which include registration, filling of the form, uploading photograph and signature and payment of fees. NTA had issued JEE Main January 2020 admit card for all students who completed the application process within the specified time. The admit card of JEE Main January 2020 was released in online mode on December 6. Students were required to login to their candidate portal to download their admit card. The JEE Main 2020 admit card carries all of the information like name and photograph of candidate, exam centre name and address, The schedule of the exam and paper for which appearing. Students are requested to verify all the details mentioned on the admit card after downloading it and error if any should be immediately rectified. Students had to contact the NTA authorities in helpline numbers for any issue related to admit card.

Students had to note that admit cards were not sent to candidates by post or any other means. All candidates had to download their admit card online from JEE Main 2020 portal.
Admit card should not have been mutilated and any information in it should not have been altered/modified
Students had to preserve the admit card till the complete admission process is done.
Students had to contact the NTA official if they found any error in photograph or name.
It was a must to bring admit card at the exam centre, failing which no student were allowed to appear in the exam.
Students who applied for JEE Main January 2020 had to ensure that they met the eligibility criteria before filling the application form. Students had to note that their candidature was automatically cancelled if they did not fulfil the conditions of eligibility as mentioned by the authority. The detailed eligibility criteria of JEE Main 2020 are mentioned below
Age Limit: There is no age boundation for appearing in the JEE Main 2020.
Year of Passing Class 12: Students who have passed their class 12 exam in 2018, 2019 or are appearing in 2020 are eligible to appear in JEE Main 2020 in both January and April attempt.
Number of Subjects in Class 12: Students must have a total of five subjects in their class 12. Students who have less than five subjects in their class 12 are not eligible to appear in JEE Main 2020 exam.
Percentage of Marks in Class 12: There is no minimum percentage of marks required for appearing in the exam.
Students who would be appearing in the JEE Main January 2020 were required to be clearly aware of the exam pattern. The application form of JEE Main January 2020 has been closed by NTA on October 10, 2019. The application form was released in online mode only. Students had to first register and then complete the application form, upload scanned images of photograph and signature and pay the application fee. As the complete application process was online, students need not send the hard copy of application form to the official authority. The following four steps were involved in filling the application form and this is for reference purpose only.

Step 1 - Registration: Students have to register at the portal of JEE Main 2020 in online mode. Candidates need to provide the following details at the time of registration
Candidates should take utmost care while filling particulars at the time of registration. The name and date of birth should be exactly the same with mark sheet of class 10 and 12. Click on the 'Submit' button to submit the online application form of JEE Main 2020.
Step 2 - Filling of Application Form: Students need to fill the application form after the registration process. Students need to provide details regarding their personal information, apply for, educational qualification, additional details, parent's income details are required to be filled in the application form. Students can find below the detailed list of particulars required during application form filling
Step 3- Uploading photograph and signature: Students need to upload the scanned images of their recent passport size coloured photograph and their signature. The scanned images should be of good quality and must not, in any case, be blurry or digitally blended. The specification of images is described below

Step 4 - Payment of Application Fees: Students who have completed the registration, application form filling and uploading of images need to pay the application fee. Students have to pay the application fee in online mode only through net banking/credit card/debit card/UPI/PayTM services. The details of application fee are given below

Students whose payment will be done successfully need to download the confirmation page. The confirmation page will carry all the information furnished by the candidate filled in the application form and also payment slip. Students will also receive a copy of the confirmation page in their registered email ID. Students are advised to keep a copy of the confirmation page safe with them until the complete admission process is done.
The syllabus of JEE Main 2020 mentions all the topics from each subject which are covered in the exam. Students were requested to be aware of the exact syllabus and exam pattern before they head-started their preparation for JEE Main 2020. The syllabus of JEE Main 2020 included topics from class 11 and 12 from where questions were being asked.
The preparation tips for JEE Main 2020 were very important to score good marks in the exam. Students who were appearing in the exam had to look for JEE Main 2020 preparation tips by experts, which guided in the proper study and scoring good marks. The preparation tips were very useful in the overall strategizing and execution of the study plan and thus scoring good marks.
Students had to practice the mock test of JEE Main 2020 to score good marks in the exam. Students could practice the mock tests from the NTA website. Students could also practice the test at test practice centres set up by MHRD, Government of India for making students familiar with the computer-based test. Students had to register themselves for availing the service of test practice centres without any cost.
NTA has released JEE Main January 2020 answer key. The answer key has been released in online mode and is available in the form of pdf. The JEE Main January 2020 answer key is released for all sets and shifts of exam for both Paper I and Paper II except for the drawing part of Paper-II. NTA has also released students response sheets along with the answer keys.
Students also had the provision of challenging the answers given in the answer key. NTA considered the challenges and released the final answer key after the challenging process.
The result of JEE Main January 2020 for Paper 2 has been released on January 23 while the result for paper 1 was released on January 17. The result is in the form of NTA scores for all three subjects and a combined NTA score. The NTA score is a normalized score calculated by normalization process using an algorithm. The normalized score is calculated to maintain uniformity in difficulty level of exam held in different day and shifts. Paper 2 result will be declared soon.
The JEE Main cutoff is the minimum marks a candidate need to score to qualify the test. Students who obtain the JEE Main January 2020 cutoff are eligible to take admission in NITs, IIITs and CFTIs and also becomes eligible to appear in JEE Advanced 2020. Students who want to take admission in IITs need to qualify JEE Advanced exam. The JEE Main 2020 cutoff will be in the form of NTA score and will be released after the conclusion of April attempt exam.
2019 (NTA Score)
NTA will publish the JEE Main 2020 rank list after the conduction of both January and April exam. The rank list will be prepared on the basis of candidates performance in JEE Main 2020 January and April exam. Students who appear in both January and April exam, the best of two scores will be used for the preparation of the rank list. The JEE Main 2020 rank list will form the basis of admission in all the institute which offers admission through the rank. The rank list is prepared for all different categories of students.
The counselling of JEE Main January 2020 is conducted by Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) and Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB). The JoSAA counselling allot seats in all IITs on the basis of students rank in JEE Advanced while in NITs, IIITs and CFTIs, ranks of JEE Mains are considered for admission.
The CSAB counselling is held for allotment of seats to candidates of North East and Union Territories (NEUT), for supernumerary seats in IITs, NITs, IIITs, CFTIs and other participating institutes. A separate CSAB round is held for SFTIs and a special round for leftover seats of all the participating institutes.
All the JoSAA and CSAB rounds are done through a centralised counselling in online mode. The seats are allotted as per the score and choices filled by the candidate during the registration for counselling.
The participating institutes of JEE Main 2020 include NITs, IIITs and CFTIs. Students who qualify the JEE Main will become eligible to appear in JEE Advanced and also for admission in IITs, subject to the qualifying exam. There are a total of 23 IITs, 31 NITs, 25 IIITs and 28 GFTIs. The total number of seats in all the participating institutes are around 38,000. (100-your percentile)*no.of students wrote the exam/100,for the january exam total no of students are 112679
then your rank is 10412
And also rank will be changed after the April exam due to number of students who attempt the april exam will be changed.The final rank will be given after the April exam.

In this rank your sons rank would be around 9k-10k.
And in this he won't get any good NIT college.If you belong from OBC then there will be some chances of getting NIT Patna or some lower rank NIT.
I would suggest him to work hard and get better percentile in April session so that he can get into some good NITs.
