JEE Main Application Form 2020 has been released by National Testing Agency (NTA) on February 7 at jeemain.nta.nic.in. The last date to submit JEE Main 2020 application form is March 6 (11:50 PM). However, the application fee can be paid till March 7, 2020. Meanwhile, NTA has also started the JEE Main 2020 photo correction facility on February 12. Candidates who have already submitted the application form, can now remove the image discrepancies by logging into the JEE Main 2020 website. The application process starts with JEE Main registration, filling in applicant details, uploading photograph and signature, payment of application fee and printing the confirmation page. Candidates who have appeared for JEE Main January need not register again. They can use their JEE Main login details of January to fill the application form now. While filling the JEE Main application form 2020, candidates will have to provide their personal, academic, contact details. They are required to provide details of a valid photo ID in their application form of JEE Main. Candidates can pay the JEE Main application fee online through net banking/credit card/debit card/UPI/PayTM. After completing the application form, a JEE Main confirmation page will be generated which can be printed or downloaded. NTA will open the correction window after March 7. JEE Main 2020 April exam will be held on April 5, 7, 8, 9 and 11. The computer based test will be conducted in 233 exam cities in multiple sessions. JEE Main application form 2020 for January session was available from September 3 till October 10, 2019. According to NTA, there were 9,21,261 registrations for Paper 1 and 1,38,409 for Paper 2 (January session) which were held from January 6 to 9.

Whats New in JEE Main Application Form 2020?

  • JEE Main 2020 Registration process has been revamped. Candidates now need to fill personal and contact details as well as password to register.
  • The application number will be generated after successful JEE Main registration.
  • JEE Main Exam Centres 2020 that can be chosen have been reduced to 233 from the 264 available in January session.
  • Uploading of photo and signature can be done through mobile/ webcam or desktop.
  • Along with the photograph and signature, the 12th standard admit card or marksheet also has to be uploaded
  • JEE Main 2020 application fee has been increased for all categories. An increase of Rs 150 is seen for General candidates per paper and Rs 75 for others per paper.
  • Payment mode of the JEE Main application fee is online only. There is no offline payment mode unlike 2019.

Important Points of JEE Main Registration 2020

  • Keep a valid email id and mobile number ready. To confirm submission of JEE Main 2020 application form , Make sure that these are active till the admission is complete as NTA will send SMS and other intimations on the mobile number and Email ID.
  • Make sure that you have the photograph and signature ready before starting the JEE Main 2020 Registration. Take copies of them so that they last till the admission process is over.
  • Also keep your class 12 admit card ready if you are appearing for the board exams in 2020 or the class 12 marksheet if you have passed class 12.
  • Ensure you are eligible for JEE Main. Keep school details ready as the address and other details are also asked in the application form of JEE Main.
    Keep the sample of JEE Main 2020 Application Form ready and fill in so that you don't make mistakes. The offline sample of the application form can be checked here
  • Enter the same name as registered in Class 12th/ equivalent qualifying Examination. Do not use prefixes like Mr/Shri/Fr/Dr/Mrs/Smt/Col etc.

Eligibility for appearing in JEE Main 2020 as per NTA is

  1. Age Limit - There is no age limit.
  2. Year of Appearance in Qualifying Examination - Candidates must have appeared for their class 12th or equivalent exam in 2018 or 2019. Candidates appearing for their qualifying exam in 2020 are also eligible.
  3. Number of subjects in class 12 - Candidates must have studied at least five subjects in class 12th/qualifying examination. Candidates must have taken at least five subjects in class 12th/qualifying examination in order out of which Physics and Mathematics must be compulsory subjects along with one - Chemistry/ Biotechnology/Biology/Technical Vocational subject
  4. For admission to NITs/ IIITs/ GFTIs - Candidates must have secured at least 75% marks in class 12, or be in the top 20 percentile in the class 12 examination conducted by the respective Boards. For SC/ST candidates, this qualifying marks is 65%.

How to Fill JEE Main 2020 Application Form?

Candidates can now access JEE Main application form 2020 till March 6. The final date for the payment of fee is March 7. The application form will be available only in online mode. Candidates can check the five easy steps to fill the application form given below for reference.

Step 1 - JEE Main Registration: This is the first step in the JEE Main 2020 application process. The following details must be entered to complete JEE Main registration process 2020 after reading all of the provided guidelines:

Choose Password - Candidates must choose a strong password after filling the application form of JEE Main. The password should be more than 8 and less than 13 characters, have at least one upper alphabet, one lower alphabet and one numeric value and also must have one special character in the password like - !@#$%^&*_. A security question has to be selected and answered.
Note: This password will be the one to be used for future logins so it has to be kept safe and chosen carefully.

Click on Submit. The details have to be reviewed and submitted. Before submission, the particulars have to be checked and the declaration has to be signed. The JEE Main 2020 application number will be generated.

Note: For the April session, candidates who have applied for JEE Main 2020 January session will be able to use the same credentials to fill the application form.

Click on Submit. The review page will open and the candidates will have to check the particulars and finally submit the application form.

Step 3 - Uploading of Photograph and Signature: After reviewing and submitting the application form, candidates will have to upload the candidates’ photograph, signature and 12th admit card or marksheet scanned as per the mentioned specifications and saved. Candidates who has qualified 10+2th qualifying examination will have to upload their marksheet while those who will be appearing for 10+2th qualifying examination in 2020 will have to upload their admit card. Step 5 - Print JEE Main Acknowledgement Page - Finally, the candidates will have to print out the acknowledgement page for future use. Candidates will also have to verify their registered mobile number and email address by entering the sent OTP to receive the admit card and other important information.

How to apply for EWS category?

The steps for EWS category in the JEE Main 200 application form are specified by NTA as follows

  • First complete JEE Main Registration
  • While filling in the application form of JEE Main 2020, candidates will be asked to enter their category
  • They must opt for "EWS" from the given list of categories
  • There is no need to upload the EWS certificate along with the JEE Main application form 2020
  • They must submit the application form after filling all other details.

Note: EWS certificate will be required during the JEE Advanced 2020 application process. The certificate for EWS category will also be required during admissions.

How to check JEE Main 2020 Application Status?

Candidates can check the status of their JEE Main application form 2020 by using the “Application Form Progress” tab which will be activated in the candidate login. Through this feature, the candidates will be able to check and view their application form, images and payment status.

How to Check JEE Main Fee Payment Status?

A print out of the confirmation page can be taken only if the payment status reflects “OK”. However, if the payment status has not been confirmed, then the candidates will have to follow the given points:

  • For Online Payment - Candidates will have to pay the fees again since it means that the earlier payment was not successful. The earlier paid fee will be refunded within seven days.

How to Retrieve JEE Main Password?

  • Candidates must go to the JEE Main candidate login window.
  • They must click on "I can't access my account" button.
  • Next, they must click on "I forgot my password" option.
    They will have three options to retrieve their JEE Main 2020 password
    Using Security Question & its Answer chosen during JEE Main registration.
    Using a verification code sent via text message (SMS) to the candidate's registered mobile number.
    Using a reset link sent via Email to the candidate's registered Email address.
  • Candidates must opt for any one of the above and follow the given instructions to retrieve their JEE Main password.

How to retrieve JEE Main 2020 Application Number?

  • Click on “I cannot access my account?”
  • Next, the candidates will have to click on “I forgot my JEE Main application form number” button.
  • Information such as name, mother’s name, father's name, date of birth, state of eligibility and security pin have to be provided.
  • The application number will be given to the candidates if all correct information is submitted.

JEE Main 2020 Application Form Correction

NTA has commenced the JEE Main image correction facility in online mode on February 12 for the April session. Candidates will able to fix any discrepancy in their uploaded photograph for the April session. The facility for the rest of the JEE Main 2020 application form correction will also be made available from March 8 to 12. During the correction period of JEE Main application form 2020, candidates will be able to correct or edit details such as paper, personal details, category, name, state of eligibility etc. . Payment of additional fee also has to be done for correction in some fields.

Steps for JEE Main Application Correction 2020

  • Click on the application correction link at the official website(jeemain.nta.nic.in)
  • Enter JEE Main application number, password and security code.
  • Edit and correct the requisite details.
  • Click on “Submit”

Details that can corrected in JEE Main 2020 Application Form

  • Personal Details: Spelling mistakes in name, parent's name etc can be corrected.
  • Academic Details: School details, year of passing, qualifying exam can be corrected in this section.
  • Change of Paper: The choice of paper from Paper 1 to Paper 2 as well as from Paper 2 to Paper 1. If candidates have applied for one paper and wish to apply for both papers they can do so on payment of the balance fee.
  • Exam Centres: Candidates will also be able to change their choice of exam centres.
  • Language of Examination: The language can be changed from English to Hindi/Gujarati and vice versa.
  • Name, State of Eligibility and Date of Birth can also be corrected by candidates
  • Category: Candidates can also change their category. If the candidates change their category from general to reserved, then fees will not be refunded. If candidates change their category from reserved to general, they will have to pay the balance fee.

Question: Who can apply for JEE Main 2020?

Answer:

Candidates who meet the NTA specified JEE  Main 2020 eligibility criteria can apply for the exam. Candidates who have passed  10+2 or equivalent in 2018, 2019 or appearing in 2020 can apply irrespective of their age. They must have studied Physics and Maths as mandatory subjects.

Question: What is the change in JEE Main 2020 application fee? Has the payment mode also changed?

Answer:

Yes. NTA has increased the application fee of JEE Main 2020. The fee can be paid only in online mode i.e., net banking/credit card/debit card/UPI/PayTM. Increase in fee per paper for Genreal candidates is Rs 150 while for others its Rs 75.

Answer:

Now, candidates have to enter their personal and contact details and also create their password during the JEE Main 2020 registration. The state of eligibility must now be mentioned while filling the application form. These are the major changes in the JEE Main 2020 application form.

Question: I have studied from NIOS. Can I fill JEE Main 2020 application form?

Answer:

Yes. You can. However, you must give the address of your study centre in place of the school details in the academic section of the JEE Main application form.

Question: If I dont have 75% in my class 12, can I fill the JEE Main application form 2020?

Answer:

The JEE Main eligibility does not specify any pass percentage. For admissions to IITs, NITs, IIITs and GFTIs, it is mandatory to either have 75% in class 12 or be in the top 20 percentile of the respective board.

Question: Will the authorities accept photograph without the name and date?

Answer:

Yes though it is better to ensure that name and date are mentioned as specified by NTA.

Question: What is the eligibility criteria for an EWS candidate to apply for JEE Main 2020?

Answer:

There is no special criteria in terms of eligibility criteria and what applies for general,candidates will apply to EWS candidates too.

Question: If I am appearing for improvement exam this year, what should I fill in the year of passing and also roll no?

Answer:

All students who are appearing for improvement in 2020 should fill the year of the first attempt as well as the roll  number as the year of passing as the pass percentage will be considered later for admissions.

Question: In case a transaction fails while paying the fee, what needs to be done?

Answer:

In such a case, candidates must pay the fee again. The failed transaction amount will be refunded within 7 working days.

Question: Is the Aadhaar Card essential for all candidates of India?

Answer:

No. NTA has now allowed candidates to register for JEE Main 2020 using Aadhaar Card number, Passport Number, ration card number, bank account, any other valid Govt. identity number provided.

Question: If I need any help during JEE Main registration, who should I call? How can is address any issues that come up?

Answer:

NTA has set up a Query Redressal System(QRS) to help students with their queries and grievances. This is 24x7 helpline and students registering their issues will be given a number to track the status.

As per the expecrted cutoff result of the jee mains for this year, for th egeneral category it is about 89.75 percentile. For admission through the jee mains examination, you should qualify the jee mains cutoff score declared by the nta. So you will need to have a score which is higher than the official cutoff.
