does Jee percentile depend on the location of exam??? suppose a student gets higher percentile in delhi and one lower in UP. does it mean percentile depends not only on the shift but also on the location ??????

Shivam bhardwaj Student Expert 27th Jan, 2020

Hello Aspirants,

Hope you are doing well.

You have misconception about this.  Your percentile only depends upon the marks you get in exam and the number of aspirants appeared for exam.

It is totally wrong that it depends on location of exam or such other thing.

Good luck

My Jee percentile in b.arch paper is 88.4174433. How are my chances of getting admitted in the best colleges?

Shivani, you can calculate your expected JEE Mains paper 2 rank for the January session using the following formula:

(100-your total percentile) x 112679/100

So with 88.4174433 percentile, your rank would be around 13051.

If the number of appearing candidates increases to 1.5 lakhs in the April session, the rank can be calculated using the formula:

(100-your total percentile) x 150000/100

In this case, your rank would be around 17373.

According to your rank, it will be difficult to get a seat in the top colleges. Most top colleges in India require a rank of 5000 or below in JEE Mains paper 2 for admission.

I would suggest you to sit for the April session and give your best in the next session so that your chance of getting a top college increases. Solve the previous years' papers, brush up your concepts and practise regularly.

You can go to the below link to find the cutoff rank for admission in BArch in NITs or CFTIs for the years 2016 to 2019:

You can also go through our college predictor given below to check which colleges you are eligible for:

All the best.

what will be my chances of getting cs in goodnight with jeemains 2020 jan percentile as 99.77112

Sourandhi Saha Student Expert 27th Jan, 2020
It is difficult to predict the actual rank. But we can calculate your expected rank by this formula. Total 8,69,010 candidates appeared for the January Session. So rank formula is (100 - percentile score) X 869010 /100. That means, your expected rank would be 1988. If the number of candidates for April exam increased to 1200000 then your final rank shall be (100 - your total score) X 1200000/100.
Based on previous years' cutoff, you can expect CS in NIT Rourkela, Surathkal, Allahabad, Jaipur etc. You can also be admitted depending upon your home state quota.
You can use our college predictor to know your admission possibilities-

How many students are selected from general category for advance?

Atulya Himanshu 27th Jan, 2020

Hi, Anay

JEE Advanced 2020 will be conducted on May 17, 2020 in India and abroad. IIT Delhi will be conducting JEE Advanced 2020 under the guidance of Joint Admission Board (JAB). The number of eligible students for the exam have been increased by 10,000. Now 2.5 Lacs candidates will be eligible for JEE Advanced instead of 2.4 Lacs. Also, JEE Advanced will be conducted in the US for the first time. To serve this purpose, an Exam Centre will be set up in San Francisco area.

In General - 1,13,120

Hope this helps!
