What is the variation of rank in OBC-NCL and OPEN category in JEE ADVANCED?

Sharon Rose Student Expert 20th Feb, 2020

Hello,

The category rank and open category rank cannot be determined until the total number of candidates appeared in the exam and number of candidates in candidates in each category are known. All such data will be available after the examination. But the category rank will be lower than the open category rank and it depends on the total number of candidates belonging to a particular category appeared in the exam.So the count always changes.

I have 10 months for JEE Mains 2021 exam. Is 10 months enough to score below 1000 rank in JEE Mains and below 1000 rank in JEE Advanced. I am scared that it is not enough time.

Manidipa Kundu Student Expert 19th Feb, 2020

hi,

see to get a good score in jee main exam, 10 month time is more than enough, now you need to also focus on your board exam, so you need to make a time table and follow the the rules according ly, since jee main is a mcq based exam, you need to practice ample number of questions. for mcq based questions follow arihant or tata macgraw hill books. based on jee main score, if you cleared the cutoff you will be eligible to seat for jee advance exam.

hope you may understand.

In English 75 required to jee advanced

Aditi Amrendra Student Expert 19th Feb, 2020
Hello,

Absolutely not. There is no such criteria that you have to get 75 marks in English in board exams . The only criteria for appearing for JEE advanced examination is that a candidate must have scored 75% or above in the 10+2 examination or its equivalent, for SC/ST/PwD, the aggregate marks should be at least 65%.
Candidates should be within the top 20 percentile (category-wise) of successful candidates in their respective 12th standard (or equivalent) board examination.

I hope this helps.

I have scored 75.93 percentile in jee main January 2020 and i belong to OBC category am i selected for jee advanced???

anurag khanna 19th Feb, 2020

Hello Aspirant,

According to given percentile by you, your rank will be near about 200000. It is calculated using the given formula

(100-Your percentile)x869010/100

As you belongs to reservation category OBC so ther are strong chances that you are qualified for JEE-Advance but final result will be declared after April attempt.

After announcement of cut-off by NTA for JEE-Mains you can take your final decision.

Good Luck!!
