As many as 50,455 candidates who had taken JEE Advanced 2017 on May 21) have qualified the entrance examination and made it to the rank list across all categories. According to Professor Prem B. Bisht, Organizing Chairman, JEE Advanced 2017, out of the 1,59,540 candidates who had taken the test for IIT admissions, 43,318 were boys while 7,137 were girls. This means that out of the total candidates, 86% were boys and 14% were girls. The list of successful candidates included 23,390 from General Category, 9,043 from OBC-NCL Category, 13,312 from SC and 4,710 from ST Category. Besides this, 7 candidates qualified in foreign category.
These official statistics were released after JEE Advanced 2017 result was announced today, June 11 (at 10 am). The result for JEE Advanced 2017 was declared via 7 mirror sites in IITs, while text messages were also sent to all the candidates on their performance. The qualified candidates are now eligible to apply for seats in various IITs. This year, Sarvesh Mehtani has clinched All India Rank (AIR) 1, while Akshat Chugh and Ananye Agarwal have bagged AIR 2 and 3 respectively. JEE Advanced 2017 numbers and figures:
As many as 1,72,024 candidates had registered for JEE Advanced 2017, while only 1,59,540 had actually appeared in the test and 50,455 qualified for admissions to IITs. This means that 12,484 registered candidates have opted out of JEE Advanced 2017. It must be noted that this year, 2,20,000 top rankers of JEE Main were eligible for appearing in JEE Advanced, however, only 1,72,024 have actually registered for the national level engineering entrance test. This means that a total of 47,976 around 22% eligible candidates did not even register for JEE Advanced 2017.
1,427 extra candidates qualify for JEE Advanced 2017:
Earlier, for admission year 2017-18, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has allowed as many as 2,21,427 top rankers of JEE Main to appear in JEE Advanced for IIT admissions whereas the actual capping for appearing in JEE Advanced 2017 was 2,20,000. This means that the exam conducting authority has declared 1,427 more candidates eligible for appearing in JEE Advanced 2017.
Category-wise registered, appeared and qualified candidates in JEE Advanced 2017:
As per JEE Advanced 2017 report, 70,125 General Category candidates had registered for JEE Advanced, whereas 66,773 have taken the test and 23,390 have qualified for admissions.
In OBC-NCL Category, 63,060 candidates had registered, 58,011 had taken the examination and 9,043 have qualified.
For admission year, 27,416 SC Category candidates have applied for appearing in the test whereas only 24,717 have actually taken the exam and 13,312 have qualified.
From ST Category, as many as 11,423 candidates had registered, 10,039 appeared and 4,710 have qualified for IIT admissions.
