A two-day ‘Thematic Conference in Chemical Sciences (TC2S-2017) was inaugurated on May 15, 2017, at IIT Ropar. The conference hosted by the Department of Chemistry aimed to bring researchers from academia and industries on a common platform to share their thoughts in the field of Chemistry and provide insights into the current trends in sustainable chemistry.
Kallam Anji Reddy, Chair of School of Chemistry, University of Hyderabad, delivered the keynote address. Among the other dignitaries present were Prof. Sarit K Das, Director of IIT Ropar, who was the patron of the conference, Prof. Goverdhan Mehta, F.N.A., F.R.S., University Distinguished Professor, distinguished scientists and students.
The conference is an endeavour to create an environment to explore the latest technologies and bring together current research on different aspects of sustainable chemistry- of particular interest, in the different areas like preparation and characterisation of organic, inorganic, and energy materials; sustainable catalysis: heterogeneous & homogeneous catalysis, photo-catalysis, electro-catalysis, and bio-catalysis; chemical and electrochemical sensors; development of alternative energy resources; sustainable drug development and delivery; modelling and simulation studies of energy materials, including storage materials.
