Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar concluded its two-day ‘Thematic Conference in Chemical Sciences’ (TC2S-2017) on May 16, 2017. On the second day of the conference, a session was held on “Sustainable Alternative Energy Resources” by Prof. Vijaymohan K. Pillai, Director CSIR-CECRI followed by lectures on “Sustainable Organic Synthesis” by Dr. Subhrata Ghosh from IIT Mandi and Dr. Akkatu. T. Biju from NCL, Pune on their respective field of expertise post lunch.
The conference aimed to create an environment to explore the latest technologies and bring together current research on different aspects of sustainable chemistry- of particular interest, in the different areas like preparation and characterisation of organic, inorganic, and energy materials; sustainable catalysis: heterogeneous & homogeneous catalysis, photo-catalysis, electro-catalysis, and bio-catalysis; chemical and electrochemical sensors; development of alternative energy resources; sustainable drug development and delivery; modelling and simulation studies of energy materials, including storage materials. The conference gave an open platform to the students and Postdoctoral fellows to give oral presentations and posters presentations.
Among the other dignitaries’ present were Prof. Sarit K Das, Director of IIT Ropar, who was the patron of the conference, Dr. Ch. Subamaniyam of IIT Hyderabad, Dr. Tharamani, C. N from IIT Ropar.
