As a student pursuing a B.A. in Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences from CSJMU, you are currently not eligible to appear for the GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) exam, as GATE primarily focuses on science, engineering, and technology disciplines. The eligibility criteria for GATE require candidates to hold a Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology/Architecture or a Master’s degree in Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related fields.
However, the GATE exam has been expanding in recent years to include certain subjects under Humanities and Social Sciences, such as:
- Economics (XE)
- English (XH)
- Psychology (XH)
- Linguistics (XH)
- Philosophy (XH)
- Sociology (XH)
If your field of study falls within one of these specific subjects, you may be eligible to apply for GATE in the respective discipline. In this case, you would need to focus on preparing for the relevant subject, as GATE tests in these areas will have different syllabi compared to engineering fields.
If your B.A. does not align with any of these subjects, you will not be eligible for GATE. Consider pursuing a postgraduate degree in a related field if you wish to qualify for the exam in the future.
If you accidentally mentioned the wrong passing year in your GATE 2025 application form, it's important to address this issue to avoid any potential complications. Here’s what you should consider:
1. **Check the Guidelines**:
- **Refer to the GATE Brochure**: Review the GATE 2025 information brochure or official guidelines to understand the procedure for correcting application details. Most examination authorities provide specific instructions for making corrections.
2. **Contact the Exam Authorities**:
- **Reach Out for Clarification**: Contact the GATE organizing institute or the examination authorities via their official contact channels (email, helpline) to explain the mistake and seek guidance on whether you need to make a correction.
- **Follow Their Instructions**: If they advise making a correction, follow their instructions carefully to update the passing year in your application.
3. **Check for Correction Window**:
- **Look for Correction Period**: GATE applications typically have a correction window period where you can amend details. Verify if this period is available and use it to correct the passing year if necessary.
4. **Submit Correct Information**:
- **Update Your Records**: If correction is allowed, ensure you provide accurate information to avoid any issues during the examination or in the verification process.
5. **Documentation**:
- **Keep Proof**: Retain any communication or documentation related to the correction request for future reference, in case it is needed for verification.
Correcting the mistake is crucial because discrepancies in application details can lead to complications during the examination process or verification stages. Taking prompt action will help ensure that your application is processed smoothly and accurately.
A person with a valid GATE score more than 700 get call for interview and rank under 2k in most of the IITs in CS candidates can apply to some other departments too, but that depends on the course being offered by the institute and the individuals interest.
Sometimes rank below this are also get call for interview in new ones but several factors such as the cutoff ranks for different institutes, the number of seats available, and the competition in the particular year changes cutoff every year.
Hello,
If you've made a mistake in your GATE application form, such as entering incorrect qualification information, you may be able to correct it during the correction window that GATE provides. The correction window is usually opened after the application process closes, allowing candidates to rectify specific errors like qualification details, category, or exam city.
Also, you should check the official GATE website for the correction schedule and the list of fields that can be edited. If the mistake cannot be corrected, contact the GATE organizing body immediately for further guidance.
Hope it helps !
