How to prepare for gate maths?

Sourandhi Saha Student Expert 10th Apr, 2020
Instead of choosing a random topic from the syllabus, you must break your preparation into sections. Sub-topics from each section should be selected and then strategy on clearing concepts must be made. Never leave any concepts doubtful or unsolved. Once done with the syllabus and concept clarity, you should move towards solving previous years papers. Give mock tests as much as possible. Time management is one more important thing you should look upon. Remember that practise will increase your efficiency.
Important books you can go for-
  • Introduction to Real analysis by Donald R. Sherbert Robert G. Bartle.
  • Functional Analysis by Rudin

Ruchika Chauhan Expert 10th Apr, 2020

Kindly mention your GATE marks out of 100 and your GATE paper and graduation percentage then we can tell you about your chances in PSUs.

Good Luck!

my gate score is 883 (marks 81.89 and rank 78) in civil branch and OBC NCL category what are the chances of PSU like ONGC IOCL & NHAI?

Manidipa Kundu Student Expert 9th Apr, 2020

see cutoff score changes every year and it depends on certain factors like number of participants, questions difficulty level, seat matrix, number of vacancy in particular psus etc. however at this score you have decent chances for psu , so I suggest you to apply all of them where vacancy is for civil engineering.

You may use Careers360 college predictor tool to know your predictable colleges and psu calling chances

from where will I get OBC NCL Certificate format, for applying GATE scholorship

Rishu Gupta 9th Apr, 2020

Hi Muhammed Mubashir,

After the declaration of gate result, you have to apply for IITs or NITs specifically. You can apply only by going to their official site. In official site you will find all the details, like last year cutoff, application procedure and information about gate scholarship. From there you will able to download the format of your OBC NCL certificate.

I got mark greater than general cut off in GATE , do i need non cremy layer certificate to aaply scholorship if I belong to obc (ncl), or can I apply as general category student?

Shubham Dhane 9th Apr, 2020

The category which you have filled while filling the GATE application form will be considered regardless of the cut off marks of a particular category. If you have filled your category as OBC-NCL in the application form then you must upload valid OBC-NCL which not more that one year old.If you have filled your category as general then you don't need to upload any category certificate while applying for scholarship.
