About GCET 2013: A Common Entrance Test conducted by Directorate of Technical Education, Goa government for degree courses in engineering for various colleges in the state

GCET 2013 Eligibility Criteria:

The candidate must have passed 10+2 level of examination of Goa board of higher education or equivalent from a recognized board with minimum 45% marks. Minimum marks requirement for the SC/ST/OBC candidates is 40%.
 

Physics, Maths and English must be the compulsory subjects with an optional subject of any of the following- Computer Science, Biology, Chemistry or Bio Technology.
 

No age limit is specified for the applicants for B.E. and B.Pharm courses
 

GCET 2013 Selection Procedure:

  • Admissions to B.E. and B.Pharm courses shall be on the basis of GCET 2013 (Goa Common Entrance Test)

  • Admissions to B.Arch. course shall be on the basis of scores obtained at NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture), conducted by Council of Architecture

Note: Admissions to B.E. Courses in the State of Goa from the year 2014-15 are proposed to be on the basis of National Level JEE (Joint Entrance Engineering Examination) conducted by CBSE. Suitable weight age is for marks scored at Class XII Board exam. Prospective students are advised to refer to the relevant CBSE websites for syllabus and other major information, and prepare accordingly.
 

GCET 2013 Paper Pattern:

The GCET 2013 exam will be as per the syllabus prescribed and followed for Standard XIIth (Science) examination for the current year by the Goa Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education, Porvorim, in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

Paper Pattern:

  • Total no of Questions: 75

  • Duration of Exam: 2 hours

  • Multiple choice questions with one correct answer.

 Marking:

  • Each correct answer

  • Each paper will consist of 75 (Seventy Five) questions to be answered in two hours.

  • There will be no negative marking for wrong or multiple answers.

GCET 2013 Application process:

The Application Procedure consists of two steps:

1. Pre GCET 2013:
Form A Application for GCET 2013

  • Obtain the Form A by sending a written request along with a DD of Rs.800/- payable in favour of “Director of Technical Education” at Panaji   to Director, Directorate of Technical Education, Alto- Porvorim, Goa, 403521

    OR

  • Download  Application Form –A for appearing at GCET-13

  • Click here for application and Prospectus

  • Submit the same in person at notified Application Reception Centre as per centre opted, along with a DD of Rs. 800/- (towards the prospectus fee)

Submit the filled in application form (A)  along with :

  • A demand draft for Rs 600 (test fee) payable in favour of “Director of Technical Education” at Panaji – Goa, drawn on any Scheduled Bank payable at Panaji

  • Three identical photographs as indicated in the Prospectus

  • SSCE Passing Certificate.

  • Std XIIpassing certificate or HSSC Examination Hall Ticket

Note: The certificates should be self attested photo copies) as mentioned in the Prospectus

GCET 2013 Photo Admit Card:

  • Obtain the Photo-Admit Card, from the Admission Committee on the same day

  • Applicants shall ensure that the validity of the Demand Draft is at least 3 months from the date of issue

  • Admit cards will be issued only to candidates in person.

 2. POST GCET 2013:

Form (B1) for  Engineering/ Architecture after GCET results on May 20, 2013

  • The Application Forms (B) for admission is also included in the Common Prospectus. These forms shall be accepted at the Directorate of Technical Education, Porvorim , Goa, and other notified locations, as per schedule.

  • Separate application forms are required to be submitted for admission to each course.

  • The Application Form (B) should be filled in accordance with the rules by the applicant in his/her own handwriting and duly signed by him/her.

  • Two recent, identical passport size photographs (taken not earlier than 3 months from the date of application)

  • One photograph should be affixed to the Application Form (B) in the space provided

  • The other photograph should be affixed to the Acknowledgement Card.

  • Name of the candidate should be the same as in the SSC/HSSC certificate.

  • Applicant must enter all the categories he/she is eligible and wishes to apply for.

  • Submit the Application Form complete in all respects,before the due date, at the Directorate of Technical Education, Porvorim , Goa and other notified locations

  • Obtain the Acknowledgement Card, with registration number, as proof of submission of the form

 Documents to be submitted along with Form B1:

  • Photograph on the form

  • Certificate of date of birth

  • Statement of marks/Certificate/provisional certificate of passing HSSC

  • School/college leaving certificate

  • Certificate of residence

  • Certificate for reserved category claimed

  • Documents for relaxation in the period of residence, if any

  • Acknowledgement card with photograph

  • Candidate Copy of GCET Admit Card

  • Income Certificate (For Tuition Fee Waiver)

  • Eligibility Certificate from Goa University (for applicants other than Goa Board)

Note: Certificate of residence from the Mamlatdar, indicating period of continuous residence (minimum last 10 years) of the applicant in Goa, preceding the month of application.

  • In case, the continuous residence in Goa is less than 10 years but more than 5 years, and the applicant wants to claim, concession on the grounds of parents/grandparents being born in Goa, the birth certificate of either of the parents/grandparents from the Registrar of Births & Deaths, and documents to establish their link with the applicant.

  • An applicant claiming concession in period of residence under category 1 must produce attested photocopy of the Goa Government order indicating the place & period of deputation and posting outside the State of Goa or a certificate stating that he is a student of Navodaya Vidyalaya from Goa.

  • In case Residence Certificate is issued by Mamlatdar on or before 31/12/12, applicant shall provide documentary evidence to establish his/her continuous residence in the State of Goa, immediately preceding the last date/month of application.

  • Result of GCET 2013: May 20, 2013

GCET 2013 Result:
Based on their performance in GCET 2013, a merit list will be prepared as per aggregate marks in the subjects of physics and mathematics, results will be published on DTE Goa website.

  • The list of eligible candidates with remarks (objections/shortfalls) shall be displayed on at the Admission Centre at Directorate of Technical Education, Porvorim, Goa, as well as the website.

  • Applicants have to verify the details mentioned in the list.

  • In case of any errors, they should inform the  the Chairman, Admission Committee, in writing within 24 hours.

  • Candidates interested in seeking admission have to be present physically at the Admission Centre during the admission/counselling process.

  • Students have to attend along with Acknowledgement Card, Documents in original & fees.
