GH Patel College of Engineering and Technology started functioning in 1996. It is a privately owned institute. The college has nine departments some of which are the Department of Chemical Engineering, the Department of Information Technology, Department of Applied Science and Humanities. GH Patel College of Engineering and Technology was affiliated to Sardar Patel University from the year 1996 to 2008. Later on from the year 2008, the institute was affiliated to Gujarat Technological University. Now, GH Patel College of Engineering and Technology is a constituent college of Charutar Vidyamandal University. 

The total faculty strength at GH Patel College of Engineering and Technology is 118. The college offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the field of engineering and technology. The institute is built on more than 10 acres of land. Shri Gordhanbhai Hathibhai Patel, a philanthropist of Gujarat, has given donations for the college. In regard to this,  the college was named G H Patel College of Engineering & Technology, commonly known as GCET. Technical courses of GH Patel College of Engineering and Technology are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

The college is located in Bakrol Road, Vallabh Vidyanagar, Gujarat. India. The nearest airport is Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport located at a distance of 86 km that will approximately 50 minutes to 1 hr to reach the institute. Anand Junction is the nearest railway station located at a distance of 6 km away and can reach the institute in about 5 minutes. Students can take a bus from Anand New Bus Station which is about 4 km away from the institution.

• Incubation and Entrepreneurship Cell (IEDC): This cell provides a platform for students to showcase their entrepreneurial skills. The main objective of the cell is to bring out the entrepreneurial flair in students and help them understand the various aspects of entrepreneurship.
